I remember feeling like I was different than my brothers and sisters, but mostly in that I really liked to do things by myself, and to spend a lot of time on my own. I loved spending time with my mother, she was always so important to me—probably the most important person in my life growing up. I have to say both my mother and father were very stylish. My mother was an attorney, and she dressed very classically.
I’ve always wanted to design for everyone. I think one of the most important things within my collections is the idea of people finding themselves. I’ve always encouraged that, and I’ve always designed with that in mind, so it’s really important to me.
