Immortal Thor will outdo Immortal Hulk.
Prolific comic book writer Al Ewing takes up the creative reins behind Marvel's Thor once more, with the promise that his Immortal Thor series will surpass the achievements of his Immortal Hulk run. In the most recent edition of his newsletter, Ewing himself described giving the book its Immortal title as "not so much a promise to the readers as a promise to myself."
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Immortal Thor – written by Ewing, with art by Martin Cóccolo, and Alex Ross handling covers – will feature elements that are both familiar to readers, in what Ewing called "maybe an exorcism of ghosts," along with "a new stylistic choice that's entirely this book's own." This Immortal Thor will also contain "more of a sense of positivity," and perhaps "even something approaching optimism.
For Al Ewing, "Immortal" Is A Promise And A Challenge "This book is its own thing, a new shot at the moon, a different beast," Al Ewing teased in his newsletter, writing about his upcoming Immortal Thor. The writer has been a major contributor to Marvel Comics over the past decade, with his and artist Joe Bennet's 50-issue run on Immortal Hulk, from 2018-2021, being one of the most impressive feats of the company's current era.
Immortal Thor Is Set To Redefine Marvel's Most Iconic Deities "I have to try," Ewing wrote, "I have to try because I don't know how to do anything else but try. If we fail, we'll fail better. But I don't think we're going to fail." With only one issue of Immortal Thor released so far, the title is already one of Marvel's most exciting, due to the exciting level of the creative team's ambitions.
The first issue of Immortal Thor has already delivered a thought-provoking set-up for the God of Thunder's latest adventures through the Marvel Comics cosmos, as well as making moves to redefine Asgardian lore.
