"That was my thing over quarantine," Zehenni says over a Zoom call from her family's home in Southern California. "I'd watch some YouTube videos of celebrities showing their skin-care lines, or skin-care tips and tricks. So I kind of went through that, and maybe bought a few moisturizers, or serums, or eye creams that I found to be really cool. But then I couldn't really use very much of those products, unfortunately."for most of her life.
Zehenni's sensitive skin kept her from enjoying most of the skin-care products she tried. It felt like nothing worked for her acne, and she struggled to watch her friends find treatments that cleared their skin while hers raged on. "I just didn't have any confidence or comfort in my skin," Zehenni says.
After that, Zehenni went on a run. "I kept thinking about how badly, after watching all these YouTube videos, that I wanted to start a skin-care line so I would finally have products that I could use for my skin," she explains. She brought the idea up to her mother, who asked her "Why not start now? Why wait until you're maybe 25 or 30?"
Zehenni got in touch with a family friend who works as a cosmetic chemist, who connected her to formulators and designers. All the while, Zehinni kept her
