The social media company has since reinstated one of two posts about Cavazos and has reportedly apologized, saying, “We got it wrong.”Who was Kingsville native Richard Cavazos, the namesake general of the renamed Fort Hood?On Wednesday morning, Christenson posted a link to the online version of his news article. In the post, he talked about Cavazos’ modesty and how he never imagined a fort named after him.
Christenson’s second post taken down by Facebook announced that his initial post about Cavazos had been removed. Neither included offensive language or mentioned the fort’s controversial ties to the Confederacy, things that may typically trigger a ban on social media. “I wasn’t kicking dirt on anybody,” Christenson said.
Except to say that Christenson’s posts violated Facebook’s community standards, the social media company has not explained why the posts were removed. One of the posts was removed for almost an hour.
