Comey said in an interview with Chris Wallace on Fox News Sunday that he made a mistake last year when he previously characterized the FBI’s conduct in the Russian probe as appropriate."I was wrong. I was overconfident in our procedures. It’s important that a leader be accountable and transparent,” he said.
He also said that while an Inspector General report about the origins of the Russia probe “vindicated” the FBI of accusations of political bias against Trump, it “also found things that we were never accused of and that was real sloppiness and that’s concerning.”: “The FBI was accused of treason, of illegal spying, of tapping Mr. Trump’s wires illegally, of opening an investigation without justification, of being a criminal conspiracy to defeat and then unseat a president.
