The owners said construction and permits have taken longer than anticipated.
Like many construction projects post-COVID pandemic, it’s taking a little longer than anticipated.
The Katsifis family are revamping the former East Shore Diner they relocated from Harrisburg into a retro ice cream parlor located off Waterford Drive in Silver Spring Township.“While we hoped to be open for this summer season, permitting and construction has caused some delays. But as with everything in life, good things take time! We want this ice cream shop to be extra sweet and we are excited as things keep moving forward.”from 711 S. Cameron St.
Originally, Katsifis said he wanted to keep the diner in Harrisburg, but was unable to find a location. The Silver Spring Township address off the Carlisle Pike seemed like a perfect fit near their home and Cumberland Valley High School. The area, he noted is also growing with new business including a UPMC Outpatient Center.
While no opening date has been announced, the family said the basement construction for the diner is complete and Silver Spring Township approved the land development plan.“We will continue to share our updates and can’t wait for you to see what we have planned. As always, thank you all for your patience and continued support,” they wrote.
