An Illinois woman was reportedly arrested in Hawaii for using a fake COVID-19 vaccine card with a misspelling. The card said she received the “Maderna” vaccine, rather than the Moderna vaccine.
The counterfeit card said that she received the “Maderna” vaccine, rather than the ModernaHawaii’s Safe Travels Program flagged the card and found that the hotel she listed didn’t have a reservation under her name, according. Officials said they tried to reach Mrozak at the hotel and through other information she provided in travel documents, but they couldn’t reach her.
Mrozak was arrested when she arrived at the airport for her flight home, and she told investigators that she paid for a vaccine at her doctor’s office. If convicted, she could face up to a year in prison and up to $5,000 in fines, KITV 4 reported.
