The data showed that out of 118,612 COVID cases between April and August, 10.2 percent were breakthrough cases from fully vaccinated people.
There have been 4,822 COVID deaths in Alabama so far in 2021, with 12,000 in total. Alabama is listed as the worst state in the entire country in terms of percentage of population who have been fully vaccinated, according to theState Health Officer Dr. Scott Harris said that there has been an increase in people getting vaccinated in Alabama recently.
Harris told WBRC that the state is tied in 44th place in terms of offering the first dose and is currently averaging around 14,000 and 16,000 shots per day, compared to around four to five thousand shots per day six weeks ago. On August 2, Harris said that of the 2,379 COVID-19 deaths reported in Alabama from January 19 to June 30, 99 percentfor those aged 16 and over, the ADPH said that not enough Alabamians"realize the seriousness of infection" with COVID while continuing to urge people to get their shots.
