Coming from El Segundo, Dr. Jennifer Hawn, who has worked in the Beverly Hills school district and at Pepperdine University, starts July 1.
Hawn has served in public education for more than 25 years, including as an instructor for Pepperdine University, administrator for the Beverly Hills Unified School District and assistant superintendent of human resources with Whittier City School District. Hawn has reportedly led schools in the delivery of innovative educational programs.
The board received 22 applicants for the position, selected six candidates for first-round interviews and brought back three for a second round. Once the finalist was confirmed, two board members conducted a site visit to DaVinci Schools in El Segundo and met with 30 people who work or engage with Hawn in her current role as deputy superintendent there.The City Council will consider adopting the housing element on Monday.
