The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), has located the missing Vikram lander after contact was lost with the spacecraft shortly before its touch down on the lunar surface.
Chandrayaan-2 was supposed to land on the moon on September 7, but scientists lost contact moments before.: India’s space agency has located a moon lander that went missing last week shortly after its scheduled touch down on the lunar surface. The failed mission marks a milestone for India’s scrappy space industry which had hoped to become the fourth ever to successfully execute a soft moon landing.
It was hoped that Vikram would make a soft-landing however, ISRO chairman Kailasavadivoo Sivan said it must have made contact in a hard landing, the. Sivan added that the condition of the lander, including any damage, is unknown. Efforts to establish contact with the lander continue.
