MUMBAI - India’s wealthiest man and its richest banker are backing a politician of Congress, the main opposition party, in general elections, a rare public endorsement by two of the country’s most influential businessmen.

Mukesh Ambani, who heads Reliance Industries, and Uday Kotak, managing director of Kotak Mahindra Bank, both endorsed Milind Deora, the Congress candidate for the South Mumbai constituency.posted by Deora on his Twitter account late on Wednesday. The endorsement comes as a surprise.
