India’s top court orders the government to review all restrictions, including suspension of internet service, in Indian-controlled Kashmir within a week as an indefinite suspension of people's rights amounted to abuse of power.

Envoys from 15 countries including the United States are visiting Indian-controlled Kashmir starting Thursday for two days, the first by New Delhi-based diplomats since India stripped the region of its semi-autonomous status and imposed a harsh crackdown in early August.
The court held that the internet shutdown impacted the freedom of press which is part of freedom of speech and expression. They have encouraged students to return to school and businesses to reopen, but top political leaders from the region continue to be under arrest or detention.
