Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny isn't Harrison Ford's best character exit, as another legacy sequel beats it. Sadly, nobody got to see it.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny is Harrison Ford's third legacy sequel, but the best of all three of them was a box office bomb. Indiana Jones 5 has gotten a mixed reception from critics, as its barely "fresh" 68% on Rotten Tomatoes is lower than Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT The fifth Indiana Jones movie is still in theaters, but despite being a part of a billion-dollar franchise and following one of the most iconic movie characters ever, it still isn't performing well at the box office. So far, the movie has made less than $300 million worldwide , which is a disaster for Disney, as Indiana Jones 5 needs to make $750 million to break even.

Though Star Wars: The Force Awakens is the most well-received of the sequel trilogy, killing Han Solo polarized audiences, especially as he didn't get to share a scene with Luke Skywalker. While not killing Indy in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny was a relief, the character has had his happy and "definitive" ending three times now. Blade Runner 2049 easily has the best character exit.

Why Blade Runner 2049 Bombed & How Indiana Jones 5's Box Office Compares Blade Runner 2049 made $268 million worldwide, which is technically a box office bomb, whereas Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny has already reached that number and is still in theaters. Blade Runner 2049 had a lot of risks that Indiana Jones 5 doesn't, such as an R rating, a longer runtime, and it's also a sequel to what was originally a flop at the box office too.

While Blade Runner 2049 made less money than Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, Warner Bros. lost less money for the Blade Runner sequel than Disney will for Indiana Jones 5 too. Though Blade Runner 2049 only made $268 million worldwide, it only had a budget of $150 million. Movies generally have to make around 2.5 times their budgets to turn a profit, meaning that Blade Runner 2049 was around $100 million in the red when it left theaters.
