The Republican-controlled Indiana General Assembly approved a bill that would require school libraries to take public comment on their books.

The Indiana General Assembly has approved a measure that would give the public more influence over which books are allowed on shelves in the state's school libraries.

"Scientific,""literary,""artistic" or"political" justifications for keeping books would remain legal. The significant spike began in 2021, when there were 729 ban attempts. In 2020, there were only 156 challenges.
