WATCH: FoxNews host Laura Ingraham mocked voters who voted for Democrats in hopes of their student loan debts would be forgiven. 'I'm here to tell you that you were played for a fool,' she said on IngrahamAngle.
"They could have eliminated student loans through legislation or at least tried to do that, but they didn't. Instead, they pretended to do something that never had a chance of surviving Supreme Court scrutiny," Ingraham said on Friday's show of The Ingraham Angle in reference to the Court ruling against President Joe Biden in Biden v. Nebraska earlier that day.
Democrats because you thought that you're going to get a big pile of something in the form of reparations: Well I'm here to tell you that you were played for a fool," Ingraham went on."The left knew exactly what they were doing. They knew that this wasn't going, you know, in any way be upheld by the Court. And they don't have any intention of writing checks to anyone for reparations.
Meanwhile, Sen. Bernie Sanders called for Biden to utilize the authority under the Higher Education Act of 1965 to cancel the debt. Biden subsequently made a statement Friday promising that certain loans would be released via this method.Additionally, after the pause on student loan payments, Biden announced that for the 12 months following, the Department of Education will not refer borrowers enrolled in his new"On Ramp Repayment Program" to creditors should they miss a payment.
Supreme Court justices ruled 6-3 the plan to cancel $400 billion in student loan debt was unconstitutional.
