Amazon is known for its Prime delivery and wide selection.On a normal day, the company will ship 1.7 million packages.Out of all those packages, how does your order get to you?Fulfillment centerIf you live in the Susquehanna Valley and buy something on Amazon, chances are very high that your order is going to Amazon's brand-new fulfillment center in Jackson Township, York County, just west of York.
'We're actually localized, so just about everything we do is within the northeast area of the country,' O'Connell said.Delivery stationFrom here, packages will go the 'final mile' to one of 18 delivery stations in Pennsylvania – like the new one in Mount Joy, Lancaster County.Once packages come off the truck, they're sorted for neighborhood delivery. 'This part of the operation goes for about five and a half hours,' senior station manager Gregory Smith said.
