Inside Job creator Shion Takeuchi confirms that the Netflix series has been canceled, despite a season 2 renewal.
Netflix has canceled the adult animated series Inside Job despite the show already having been renewed for season 2. Inside Job was created by Shion Takeuchi, who has a long history with hit animated shows and movies, such as Inside Out, Regular Show, Gravity Falls, and Netflix's Disenchantment. Alex Hirsch, the creator of Gravity Falls, is an executive producer on the show.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY Takeuchi confirmed on Twitter that Netflix chose to go back on the renewal and cancel Inside Job season 2 despite being one of the best-animated shows of 2021, alongside groundbreaking animated series Invincible and others. Due to the show's early success, Netflix ordered an Inside Job season 2 last June, in between the release of Part 1 and Part 2 of season 1.
Another high-profile case of Netflix going back on a show's renewal during the pandemic came in the form of the streamer canceling I Am Not Okay With This. The series followed teenager Sydney Novak , in what appeared to be a normal coming-of-age story, with the girl navigating high school while dealing with the intricacies of her family and discovering her sexuality. However, Sydney's life turns upside down after she discovers mysterious telekinetic superpowers.
What Inside Job Season 2 Would Have Been Like Inside Job had so much potential to become one of the major adult animated series, the likes of Archer, in the coming years. The show's tone is very similar to that of Rick and Morty, with both series sharing the Sci-Fi genre, irreverent humor, and the concept of anything being possible to happen at any given moment of an episode.
