An IronMan variant joins Captain Carter, Thor's brother Balder the Brave, and Maria Rambeau's Captain Marvel on Doctor Strange 2's Illuminati team in unused storyboards created for the movie 🤯
A new storyboard from Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness shows an Iron Man variant as part of the Illuminati team. The 2022 Marvel Cinematic Universe film surprised audiences with a new superteam from Earth-838 featuring multiverse variants of Marvel heroes. Doctor Strange 2's Illuminati team featured Professor X , Black Bolt , Captain Carter , Captain Marvel , and Reed Richards .
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY It was widely rumored that an Iron Man variant was in Doctor Strange 2, but the movie ultimately did not include this plot point. However, a new storyboard from the movie shared by artist Soren Bendt confirms that it is something Marvel considered. The Earth-838 Iron Man variant - who looks more like Iron Monger than Iron Man - is shown standing alongside Balder the Brave, Captain Carter, and Captain Marvel. Other storyboards also feature Professor X still.
Having an Iron Man variant appear in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness would have been a good way to include another original Avenger member. This could have been accomplished without Robert Downey Jr.'s appearance too. Based on the Iron Monger-style armor featured in this storyboard, it is possible that Jeff Bridges could have returned through the multiverse as Obadiah Stane.
Since an Iron Man variant was not part of Doctor Strange 2's Illuminati team, there is a chance that Earth-838's version could return. Scarlet Witch killing the powerful heroes could have massive ramifications, such as Earth-838's characters traveling to Earth-616 to fight the Avengers. It is then possible that the intended Iron Man variant for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness would be part of the revenge squad along with Daniel Craig's Balder the Brave and others.
