Danny died in 2011, and she kept running and fundraising. She ran two majors apiece in 2017, 2018, and 2019, finishing her final major, London, on what would have been Danny’s 29th birthday.
“It was incredibly special,” he said. “This has been 13 years in the making. I’ve been obsessing about this day for 13 years. I was pretty emotional.” Having finished, he feels a heightened sense of gratitude that he wasn’t expecting. “I’m more thankful day to day,” he said.
