Israel has been a trendsetter for much of the pandemic, as it was among the most vaccinated countries after Covid-19 vaccines first became available late last year.
Israeli officials said Tuesday a fourth Covid-19 vaccine shot will soon be available to older adults and healthcare workers, apparently making Israel the first country to widely approve a fourth round of vaccination against Covid-19.Adults ages 60 and up and medical personnel will be eligible for the fourth jab, the country’s Pandemic Expert Committee said in a statement.
Israel Prime Minister Naftali Bennett said in the statement that this decision will help the country slow the spread of the omicron coronavirus variant, as IsraelBennett said in a statement: “"This is wonderful news that will assist us in getting through the Omicron wave that is engulfing the world. … The citizens of Israel were the first in the world to receive the third dose of the COVID-19 vaccine and we are continuing to pioneer with the fourth dose as well.
