A convoy of 14 aid trucks from Egypt entered Gaza Sunday night.
Civilians and soldiers were abducted from Israel earlier this month by Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad militants. President Biden announced the release of two American hostages on Friday. Israel's military said Monday that 222 people were taken hostage on Oct. 7. A spokesman for the armed wing of Hamas has said that the group alone is holding around 200 people hostage, with at least 50 others held by other factions.
Where are the hostages? Hamas said the hostages had been placed in locations across Gaza to impede Israeli operations targeting the militants in the crowded Palestinian enclave. The Israeli military has said it has intelligence relating to the whereabouts of hostages. Hamas released a video of an injured 21-year-old hostage, who identified herself as Mia Schem, kidnapped from an outdoor music festival in southern Israel, where more than 250 people were killed.
