President Biden said in his address from the White House that he told Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday that if the U.S. was experiencing what Israel has in the past several days, the response would be “swift, decisive and overwhelming.” He said the U.S. is surging additional military assistance including ammunition and interceptors to replenish Israel's Iron Dome defense system.
“We’re going to make sure that Israel does not run out of these critical assets to defend its cities and its citizens,” Biden said. The president also said that he is directing his team to share intelligence and deploy additional experts from across the U.S. government to consult with and advise Israeli counterparts and hostage recovery. The president also said that when Congress returns, he’ll ask lawmakers to “take urgent action” to help Israel’s national security needs.
