JUST IN: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu indicted on charges of bribery, fraud and breach of trust, attorney general says.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was indicted Thursday on charges of bribery, fraud and breach of trust, the nation's attorney general said.
Netanyahu is the first Israeli prime minister criminally charged while in office. He's not required by law to step down, but he's likely to face severe pressure to do so. In one case, Netanyahu allegedly accepted lavish gifts from two wealthy friends -- Israeli-born Hollywood mogul Arnon Milchan and Australian billionaire James Packer -- in exchange for political favors, such as promoting the moguls’ business interests or obtaining visas.
