Launching her bid for U.S. Senate on Tuesday, former fighter pilot and U.S. Marine Amy McGrath laid the blame for America’s current political dysfunction at Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s feet.
“Everything that’s wrong in Washington had to start someplace… It started with this man,” McGrath said in a three-minute Twitter video announcing her campaign to replace the Kentucky Republican leader. As a moody score plays, McGrath addresses the Kentucky voters she says the 77-year-old has failed to help in his three decades in the Senate: steel workers struggling with a lack of jobs, diabetics worried about their healthcare coverage.McGrath faces an uphill battle in ousting the powerful Republican leader. In the 2018 midterm elections, she lost to Republican Kentucky Rep. Andy Barr by three points in a U.S.
