Jaeger was a gentle giant. Super sensitive boy. Just a heart of gold. We recently offered readers an opportunity to pay tribute to beloved pets who have passed away. We received dozens of heartfelt tributes.
Jaeger came to me via my wife. I didn’t like him at first. He was unruly. To have in my life, I needed for him to behave. Oddly, it took him like a hot minute. He responded well to training. He understood hand signals and I even taught him German commands.
When my marriage ended, I demanded Jaeger as part of my divorce settlement. My ex agreed. He was an old man by then. The last 3 years of his life, he needed loads of care. The vet bills were crazy, but I wanted to give him every second that I could. He was always happy, right up until the end. He resisted the relaxing shot, because we had bacon on his last day. He knew there was more, so the vet said “um...just let him finish, I guess.
