Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson finished third in coach of the year voting behind New York's Brian Daboll and San Francisco's Kyle Shanahan.
The Jaguars hit a five-game losing skid during the month of October but bounced back after their bye week, winning six of their last seven games of the season to make it into the playoffs.
Their hot streak surged them into becoming AFC South champions, eliminating Tennessee from playoff contention in a Week 18 showdown. In addition to winning the AFC South, Pederson helped navigate Jacksonville out of a 27-point hole against the Chargers in a historic playoff comeback that sent Jacksonville to the Divisional round for the first time since 2017.
He helped improve second-year quarterback Trevor Lawrence and Jacksonville’s offense overall while building a coaching staff equipped to raise the ceiling of the Jaguars.Pederson wonin January—an honor given to the best coach in the AFC as voted on by 101 national media members. He held the most second-place votes from voters but was edged by the other two coaches with more first-place votes than the Jaguars' head man.
