"We have medal collectors here at James Avery, so we knew it would be a popular item," Chief Product and Revenue Officer Karina Dolgin wrote in an emailed statement."However, we didn’t realize how fast they would go." The medal mania started at 10 a.m. April 14, when participating James Avery stores started giving away the medal to the first 100 customers with any purchase. Some locations had lines hours before the doors opened. By the end of the day, all 24 stores offering the medal were completely out.
