Superman: Legacy director James Gunn has revealed a new detail about DC Studios' highly-anticipated superhero movie.
“Superman: Legacy tells the story of Superman’s journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent of Smallville, Kansas,” reads the movie’s official synopsis. “He is the embodiment of truth, justice, and the American way, guided by human kindness in a world that sees kindness as old-fashioned.”
Superman: Legacy will be a part of DC Studios’ first slate for its rebooted DC Universe, which is being called Chapter One: Gods and Monsters. The film will be written and directed byand The Suicide Squad filmmaker James Gunn, who was hired to become co-CEO of DC Studios in November 2022. The film will be led by David Corenswet as Clark Kent/ Superman and Golden Globe winner Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane. Casting for the next Lex Luthor is currently underway, with Alexander and Bill Skarsgård rumored to be on the shortlist of actors that could potentially play the DC villain.
Production is expected to begin in early 2024, just on track for its currently scheduled theatrical release on July 11, 2025.Maggie Dela Paz has been writing about the movie and TV industry for more than four years now.
