Wearing a sash with her name written in big letters, the 33-year-old former journalist bows down to her waist and shouts her devotion to the district she hopes to represent in Parliament. She races in sneakers around a construction company’s office parking lot, eager to fist-bump as many voters as she can, repeating in the time-honored fashion of Japanese campaigns, “Thank you! I will try hard!”
