In Legends, Mara Jade is a Jedi Master on the council of Luke’s New Order in addition to being his wife. Like many others in Luke’s life, she had a complicated history prior to becoming a Jedi Master, but found redemption and a new purpose after the fall of the Empire.
Could Mara Jade Be Added Star Wars Canon? Mara Jade is an incredibly important character in the Expanded Universe, but she doesn’t exist at all in the Star Wars movies or other canon material. This is primarily because George Lucas personally didn’t care for Mara Jade, but also because of the inconsistencies that came with many Legends story arcs.
Though Mara Jade has yet to make any on-screen appearances, her character’s story is clearly one that resonates with fans of the series. With many Star Wars projects on the horizon, it’s still possible that Mara Jade might finally get to make her canon debut. As pointed out in various Star Wars theories, however, it’s also possible that her character will become blended into another character, resulting in a new version of her Star Wars story, perhaps through Shin Hati.
