Jesse & Joy, who officially celebrates 15 years as a duo in 2020, revealed how their passion for music began at a young age: Joy would turn her toys into an audience, and Jesse would use whatever was in the house to make music. It wasn’t until Joy was 15 and Jesse was 18 that they had access to instruments at their church and began to make music together. “I told Joy, 'Let’s learn together,' and that’s how we eventually wrote our first song ever, ‘Llegaste Tu,’” Jesse said.
For Jesse & Joy, using their platform to raise awareness on social causes such as the environment and immigrants is crucial. "We sing about what we live and we have to socially help through music," Joy said. "There's a responsibility behind a microphone and we need to own that."
