The Jets added some depth on the offensive line on Tuesday by re-signing tackle Cedric Ogbuehi. The former first-round pick of the Bengals gives the Jets more depth at tackle as their offseason workouts begin.Duane Brown, Mekhi Becton and Max Mitchell, the three top tackles, are all coming off of injuries or health scares. Becton lost a lot of weight and at the close of 2022 sounded confident for 2023 despite being out of the lineup for two seasons.
“I know what I’m about to do and what I’m gonna do, that’s what I’m looking forward to,’’ Becton told reporters when the season ended. “I know what I can do. I’m very motivated. You all seen me do it before, so why can’t I do it again?’’ The Jets have been projected by many to use their first-round pick next week on a tackle to add a long-term answer at the position with so much uncertainty around the current crew.
The Jets need help at offensive tackle and could take Ohio State’s Paris Johnson Jr. or Georgia’s Broderick Jones at No. 13 overall. They also need to land a center and that could come in the second round with Minnesota’s John Michael Schmitz or Wisconsin’s Joe Tippmann.
