Jil Sander Launches Matterhorn-Inspired"+" CollectionMarried co-designers Lucie and Luke Meier are one with nature.For their now-available Jil Sander+ 2019 summer capsule, husband-and-wife creative duo Lucie and Luke Meier drew from their respective nature-based roots—Lucie’s in the Swiss foothills, just below the Matterhorn, and Luke’s in the port city of Vancouver.
Engineered with both Sander-like slickness and crunchy durability in mind, the inaugural Jil Sander+ collection is a textural spin on “cultivating one’s own garden,” doing away with that old French edict’s self-reliant slant, and instead espousing a commitment to collective eco-consciousness. Reflected here in eco- and fauna-friendly fabrics like recycled cashmere, the Meiers’ mission of stewardship began, naturally, in the great outdoors.
True to Lucie Meier’s high-altitude origins, the collection offers a birds-eye-view of contemporary design, weaving together European and Japanese traditions with spacious, downpour-proof construction.
