Jim Gaffigan can't believe his infamous SuperTrooper moment remains one of its best-loved scenes in the wake of SuperTroopers3 anticipation: 'I essentially worked on that movie for literally two hours, and people will still meow at me to this day.' 😂
While speaking with Screen Rant about his upcoming science fiction dramatic comedy film Linoleum, comedian and actor Jim Gaffigan revealed the challenge - or lack thereof - behind his iconic appearance in the 2001 comedy Super Troopers. Largely considered one of the highlights of the cult classic comedy film, Gaffigan's cameo was popular enough to warrant his return in 2018's Super Troopers 2.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY The scene in question is of course Super Troopers' iconic 'Cat Game', in which the officers pull someone over and see how many times they can sneak the word 'meow' into their procedural routine. While surprisingly innocuous for an R-rated comedy like Super Troopers, The Cat Game is relatable to anyone who has been fed up with or sick of a job, which is perhaps why it has stood up to the test of time.
It's so funny, because the lifespan of Jay [Chandrasekhar] and those Broken Lizard guys, and my relationship with them, [has been so long]. Going back, this was the 90s, and I was doing commercials. Now we're old men, but at that point commercials was a decent living. It's different now. They're a bunch of dopey-looking white guys, and I'm a dopey-looking white guy, and we would compete for these roles.
I'm so happy for them, and [for] the success surrounding that and their other projects. I've done cameos in some of their other stuff. They're such a fun group, and that's a very interesting thing to see comedy as community played out like that. "Comedy as community" is a beautiful sentiment that speaks to the close-knit nature of Jay Chandrasekhar and the Broken Lizard comedy troupe, who have made a number of hilarious comedy movies together and show no signs of stopping. Because of the group's tendency to continue including their friends in their projects, it does seem like a Super Troopers 3 would include Gaffigan if at all possible. Hopefully, more news will come sooner than later.
