Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) returned to the Senate after a monthslong medical absence.
The Pennsylvania Democrat was absent from the Senate since mid-February. He had checked himself in to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center for treatment for clinical depression.The Senator's return confirmed a Politico report in March, which claimed that he would return the week of April 17. His return on Monday marked the end of an absence from the Senate that lasted for two months and one day.
Fetterman was discharged from Walter Reed on March 31. He traveled home to Braddock, Pennsylvania, to spend some time with his family before returning to the Senate. His depression is reportedly in remission.The Senate Democrat's health struggles have become a point of contention, as his absence from the Senate put the Democrats at a disadvantage.
Fetterman suffered a stroke during his election campaign in 2022, and that became a lead point of contention for his opponents. Nevertheless, he went on to beat Dr. Mehmet Oz in November.
