WILLIAMSPORT – A federal judge has given credence to allegations Williamsport Area School District officials covered up a sexual assault that occurred while the high school baseball team was in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina in 2018.
He granted the motion to dismiss the equal protection and due process claims but gave Doe the opportunity to file another amended complaint on them. The judge acknowledged the case involves complex and bitterly contested allegations stemming from the district’s response to the sexual assault. Weber concluded following his investigation the incident was a “hazing/bullying issue” that the school handled properly and Myrtle Beach had jurisdiction for any criminal charges.
