Julián Castro said his aggressive stance toward Beto O’Rourke helped his visibility with voters. “People are looking at me in a new way today.”
WASHINGTON—Julián Castro needed a break-out moment in Wednesday night’s Democratic debate, and he may have gotten one.
The former San Antonio mayor and secretary of Housing and Urban Development went on the attack against former Texas Rep. Beto O’Rourke over his immigration policy during the contest. He grew visibly emotional discussing the El Salvadoran father and his young daughter who drowned while trying to cross the southern border, a shocking image that has prompted fresh appeals for an overhaul of the immigration system.
