After a two-week trial, during which the prosecution called more than 20 witnesses, the jury concluded that former certified nursing assistant Matthew Fluckiger sexually assaulted nursing home resident.

is guilty of sexually assaulting one of three women at local nursing homes, a jury found Wednesday, but it failed to reach a verdict involving the two other alleged victims.State Authorities Allowed Alleged Sexual Predator To Job-Hop Among San Diego Area Nursing Homes The jury took more than 10 hours to find Fluckiger, 37, guilty of two counts of committing a forcible lewd act on a dependent by a caretaker and a third count of committing a lewd act but not using force. For all three counts, prosecutors argued that Fluckiger sexually assaulted a woman twice in one hour at Parkway Hills nursing home in La Mesa in January 2020.
Jurors deadlocked, however, over whether Fluckiger sexually violated a then 71-year-old woman during a diaper change at Avocado Post Acute in El Cajon in June 2019 and another woman with dementia at nearby San Diego Post Acute just weeks later. Eleven jurors concluded Fluckiger was guilty. One disagreed.
