Kamala Harris raised $2 million in 24 hours after calling out Biden during the debates
63,277 people donated, and an email from Harris to supporters said that 58 percent of those donations were from first-timers. In the first three months of 2019, Harris collected $12 million, making her second in fundraising only to Bernie Sanders during the period.
Harris used the debates call out Biden’s past statements about “getting things done” by joining forces with segregationists in the 1970s to pass anti-bussing legislation , calling his past statements “hurtful”: “It was actually very hurtful to hear you talk about the reputations of two United States senators who built their reputation and career on the segregation of race in this country,” Harris said. “And it was not only that, but you also worked with them to oppose busing. There was a little girl in California who was a part of the second class to integrate her public schools, and she was bused to school every day. And that little girl was me.
