Evil Dead Rise's ending features a huge franchise twist, as Kassie's survival proves Beth can do something that characters like Ash couldn't.
Kassie survives the events of Evil Dead Rise, breaking a fatal curse that Ash Williams has been living with since 1981. Kassie is the youngest child in Evil Dead Rise's main family, with her fighting off the Deadites with the help of her Aunt Beth in order to escape the haunted apartment complex. Kassie manages to make it out alive at the end of Evil Dead Rise, which is surprising, as it goes against every expectation that the Evil Dead franchise has set up.

Rather than focusing on Ash Williams, the protagonist of the original Evil Dead trilogy, Evil Dead Rise introduces an all-new chainsaw-wielding hero: Beth.
Although Beth is the Ash Williams figure in Evil Dead Rise, she actually isn't the only survivor. Beth manages to get Kassie out of the apartment complex, meaning that she is the only Evil Dead movie protagonist that has actually been able to save someone. This is definitely a good thing, as Kassie is a young child, and seeing her die would be much more gruesome than the fates of Ash and Mia's college-age friends. However, Kassie's Evil Dead Rise survival is nonetheless surprising.
