In an emotional interview, she recalls the terrifying moment she realized something was wrong.
up until that point, in that moment Matthew realized it was time to get to the bottom of whatever was going on. The couple rushed to the ER, and once Kelly received her diagnosis, it became clear that she needed surgery to remove the brain tumor ASAP. The surgery was supposed to last six hours, but because of complications it ended it being 12 hours long.
Kelly’s husband was kept updated via text message about the unexpected length of the surgery, but it was nerve-wracking for him. “They couldn’t go, ‘Here’s three paragraphs of what’s happening,’ it was kind of like, ‘Ran into a hurdle, expect surgery to go two hours longer than expected,’” Matthew explained.
