Keegan-Michael Key revives the famous Key & Peele substitute teacher sketch for a new Paramount+ promo, as Mr. Garvey still can't pronounce names.
Keegan-Michael Key revives the famous Key & Peele substitute teacher sketch for a new Paramount+ promo. The Emmy Award-winning sketch comedy series created by Key and Jordan Peele ran for five seasons and 53 episodes on Comedy Central before going off the air. Over its relatively short run from 2012 to 2015, one of the show's most popular sketches featured Key as an inner-city substitute teacher, Mr.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY The iconic Key & Peele substitute teacher sketch has been revived for a new Paramount+ promo. Set atop the Paramount Mountain, the promo video sees Key return as Ms. Garvey to take attendance and repeatedly mispronounce the names of some of Paramount's most popular animated characters, including Blaze, Big Nate, Blue, Krumm, Dora, and Bumblebee. The Paramount+ promo ends with a callback to the original sketch as Ms.
This is understandable, given that both Key and Peele have gone on to lead successful solo careers since their hit sketch series ended. Peele has famously reinvented the horror genre with the trifecta of Get Out, Us, and Nope. Right now, the high-concept filmmaker is likely working on another horror masterpiece. He also frequently produces projects through his Monkeypaw Productions banner.
On the other hand, Key is a highly sought-after comedic talent and voice actor, recently starring in a plethora of live-action and animated projects. It is simultaneously exciting for Key & Peele fans that both stars led successful careers beyond their sketch comedy series. It is disappointing that they won't return for a revival soon. In the meantime, audiences can revisit Key & Peele seasons 1 and 2, currently streaming on Prime Video.
