K-Park never let up in the second quarter and attacked Huntsville defensively, causing turnovers. “That big run in the second quarter gave us a nice cushion to go into halftime with a lead,” Hamilton said. “If we don’t have that type of run then we don’t put ourselves in the position to win this game. That second quarter was huge.”The Hornets got within one point, 32-31, of Kingwood Park after senior guard Brayden Rozell knocked down a wide-open 3-pointer.
“Basketball is a game of runs and teams are going to make them,” Hamilton said. “That’s a very good young Huntsville team that is still trying to find its identity just like us. We came out in the third quarter, we looked the same as when the game started. When I call those timeouts, it’s a time where you can help them refocus and realize what’s happening.”Hamilton called another timeout and the Panthers responded yet again with a 13-3 run to close out the game.
