SPRING — As Klein Oak took Game 1 of a relocated game at Grand Oaks, the Panthers have a pretty big advantage now.The Panthers took a 6-2 win Thursday evening to start the Region II-6A area series, but both teams know there’s plenty more baseball on the docket.
“It’s always good to get the first one,” Klein Oak coach Bo Hernandez said. “Momentum is on our side. But at the same time, I think our guys swung it well. I thought we pitched well. “In years past, we’ve been up against the wall before,” Grand Oaks coach Lou Ferrell said. “We know how that goes. I think in a three-game series, there’s no more important game than Game 2. You’ve got to win Game 2 to stay alive. You win Game 2, you get the momentum going into Game 3.” “That was a tough one tonight,” Ferrell said. “We had a lot of opportunities early in the game. We left a lot of guys on. Anytime you do that, it hurts a little bit. It turned out being those were some big runs that got left on for us.”
