The Wickliffe Middle School student has been charged with inducing panic and aggravated menacing.
WICKLIFFE, Ohio — Police have arrested a Wickliffe Middle School student after the threat of a shooting was made on the Snapchat app.
A news release from police says the student has been charged with inducing panic and aggravated menacing. The school notified police of the threat on Sunday. The threat on Snapchat said there would be a shooting at the middle school on Monday or Wednesday. Although investigators did not believe the threat was credible, it resulted in an increased police presence at all Wickliffe schools on Monday.
Investigators were able to identify the student behind the threat and make the arrest on Tuesday. No additional information was released on the student and the case is being referred to Lake County Juvenile Court.
