The Lions, who graduated four seniors from last year’s 16-20 playoff team and lost standout guard Jaxon Olvera , have never won a district championship in their brief varsity tenure. They’ve finished second twice. “I really like what we have,” Lanham said. “I really like this group. We’re playing really well together. We’re sharing the ball. We’re continuing to grow defensively.”
“His basketball IQ is one of the best I’ve ever seen,” said Lanham, who added Bigott is fun to coach. “Sometimes he hits guys with a pass that they don’t even see coming, but their hands are up so they catch it. He sees plays before they develop. He’s a kid we’ll try and create some action for off the ball because teams will double him or faceguard him. He’s not the fastest but he does play with pace and does a great job changing speeds. I think that’s what allows him to score so well.
