Supporters of Laquan McDonald plan on more civil disobedience after 9 were arrested at protests against Jason Van Dyke's prison release Thursday.
"No we cannot let it go! That young boy was 17 years old," said Ja'Mal Green, former Chicago mayoral candidate and community organizer.nine community organizers, including Green, for disorderly conductThe organizers, now calling themselves The Laquan 9, were locked arm-in-arm and shouting inside the federal building, demanding U.S. Attorney John Lausch file federal civil rights charges against former police officer Jason Van Dyke.
"We need federal charges so that other officers understand if you are like Jason Van Dyke, you will be prosecuted on the state level and on a federal level," Green said. "We did want to participate in civil disobedience. We want that to be adamantly clear," said William Calloway, a community organizer.
"In the words of Dr. Martin Luther King, 'Justice too long delayed, is justice denied.' And we want justice for Laquan McDonald," said Amber Leaks."I want to let them know I was out here standing up for justice," said Nataki Rhodes.
