SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY HBO shared 10 new images from The Last of Us episode 2, teasing a potential flashback regarding the Cordyceps virus and a clicker stalking the trio making their way through Boston. One of the images features Indonesian actor Christine Hakim inside a lab with a microscope clearly visible behind her. The remaining images are of Joel, Ellie, and Tess crossing through Boston and promising a tense encounter with infected along the way.
With reinforcements rolling in, Joel, Tess, and Ellie must escape quickly and quietly to avoid capture. Several images of Tess and Ellie speaking in a secluded room indicate they do just that as they have a quiet moment to catch up with Ellie to make sense of the situation. Within this conversation, Ellie likely shows her bite mark and explains her immunity.
The actor was previously seen in an early TV spot that featured her character examining a fungal growth while wearing a protective biohazard suit. Her casting gives credence to the popular fan theory that the Cordyceps fungal infection initially spread through flour originating in Indonesia. When The Last of Us episode 2 airs this Sunday, audiences may finally have their answers revealed regarding the origin of the cataclysmic outbreak.
