After two days of rain, Los Angeles, Orange, San Bernardino, Riverside and Ventura counties will receive a weekend reprieve, forecasters say.
Southern California is expected to exit the region Thursday evening, leaving the weekend dry and mostly sunny.
Over the last two days, the Los Angeles region recorded 1.76 inches of rain, while the greater Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena area received 1.44 inches and Oxnard recorded 2.26 inches of rain.The region averages one to two tornadoes a year, but the twister that hit Montebello this week was the Los Angeles area’s strongest since 1983.
Strong winds are expected along the Central Coast and at higher elevations, with a wind advisory in effect in the mountains and the Antelope Valley until Friday, according to the weather service.Founded as a labor camp for agricultural workers, the small community of Pajaro has long languished in the shadow of nearby Watsonville.
