Around the Connecticut back roads in a Q8 Sportback e-tron and RS e-tron GT, part of the company’s growing plug-in portfolio
“This year’s Connecticut’s foliage season is filled with vibrant colors,” reports the state tourism office, and that was confirmed Oct. 17 during a drive of the 2023 Audi RS e-tron GT and 2024 Audi Q8 Sportback e-tron. Yes, two electric cars, aimed at very different audiences.The 2023 RS e-tron GT, a four-door sports sedan that looks like a two-door coupe, sits on the J1 platform, shared with the somewhat similar Porsche Taycan.

A major advantage of the RS e-tron is its ability to fast charge at up to 270 kilowatts, which means it can be 80% full in 23 minutes. It offers 612 pound-feet of torque. The standard e-tron GT produces 522 horsepower in boost mode and 464 pound-feet of torque, enabling 3.9-second zero to 60 times.
All Q8 e-trons are all-wheel drive, with motors front and rear. Using Sport mode ensures that all four wheels are being driven. All models also have adaptive air suspension, which can raise or lower the ride height by three inches—it coped well with brief dirt road sections. The Magnet Gray launch edition test car was loaded with every option, from the Bang & Olufsen sound system and heated rear seats to the dual-pane acoustic side window glass.
